Retro Watches Then and Now

Many years ago a wrist watch was good for one main purpose to keep the owner informed of the time. Just the thought of having the time on them made people feel pretty fantastic! Whenever a person passes by and asks you what time it is, you can simply look at your watch and respond. Or you could ignore and shoo them away. Oh the simpler times when Retro Watches were once looked upon as a popular and high tech gadgetry.

We’ve gone from the simple designs of the early 20th Century retro watches with their Vintage looking faces and leather watch straps, to funky and bold designs of the 70′s, 80′s and 90′s, where fashion took a few daring turns and the industry gave birth to the first wave of digital retro watches, Neon retro watches and the like. The old wrist watch certainly has seen a few changes over the years!

How Technology Modified Retro-Styled Watches
A lot in technology has evolved since the earlier days with retro watches and even retro sweets has changed in time. Wrist watches have become increasingly sophisticated with the emergence of solar-powered watches, GPS watches, radio-controlled watches and watches that boast a wealth of other equally impressive features. Pretty much anything, it seems, can be incorporated into a watch these days. However, there has also been unsurpassable updates with today’s recent smart phones. Some people may not even feel the need for a high tech (or any other) wrist watch, whilst sporting the latest iphone for example. Today’s young ones can forget about bringing a watch as they can have the time, the weather, and thousands of other applications at their fingertips all in one device.

Could the Use for Retro Watches Lie Only in Fashion Nowadays?
Perhaps it could be! After all a wrist watch for many people doesn’t seem to be a necessity, however more of an accessory. We find the time on wall clocks, on our phones, in our laptops and other devices which lessens the need for us to strap one around our wrist.

For some who were able to experience the retro watches in the past, they may just simply like the feel of having a watch on them. Many of us nowadays like a bit of Bling also. A lot of Retro Watches designs offer bright colours, bold features and a general Bling factor that we have grown to expect from our funky fashion accessories.
